A lovely friend and colleague

I had the honour of being part of Gemma's career on the Isle of Wight. I remember so many moments including her that I am fond of- lunch breaks and non-stop laughter with our group of colleagues. I enjoyed watching her grow and develop as a psychologist. I learned a lot from her, and I always benefitted from her ongoing reflection and mature way of dealing with various challenges over time. She was a huge source of support for me at a really difficult time on a couple occasions, one of which included her driving my heavily pregnant self into work with her, and back to the ferry each day in the weeks just before maternity leave. She helped fill in the gaps for me on many occasions as I adjusted to working in a prison and helped me navigate tricky social situations being someone from another country- she was always so understanding and compassionate. I think of her randomly, and crack up at her nuances and mannerisms, I found her so funny and unique, and just enjoyed being around her. She was always so kind, and was such a lovely person inside and out, and I will always remember that about her. I loved seeing how happy and joyful life's simple pleasures made her, she was such an example of living life to the fullest and loving her friends and family so well. Her love for Jake was unparalleled - I know how honoured she was to love him, and she held him in such high regard. I think most people don't see this kind of love in their lifetime, and what a blessing she got to experience this with him. I will always remember you Gemma, thank you for having such a positive impact on my life even in such a short time. Lots of love xxx
